Our HND's offer direct access to Year 3 of either BSc Audio Engineering or BA Popular Music, in Partnership with Perth UHI.

Entry is at the discretion of the centre, however candidates would benefit from some knowledge or practical experience of computer multimedia applications.

Your Pathway to Full Time Study at RMC!

Our short, intensive music access courses provide a pathway to our range of HND options, and are designed for those who may not have the necessary qualifications or experience to apply directly for our full time music industry courses. 

On successful completion of this course, you will meet the criteria required to join our HND programme.

Overview

On days 1-4 you will work towards gaining your Qualifications Scotland unit, on day 5 you will gain experience related to your chosen field of study:

Access to Sound Production students will learn recording techniques in one of our production studios.

Access to Music Performance students will be based in our pre production suites working on performance techniques and songwriting skills.

Music: MIDI Sequencing (SCQF level 5) (Days 1-4)

OUTCOME 1 Create a MIDI sequence.

Performance Criteria:

  • Use arrangement/compositional techniques to create a MIDI sequence.
  • Use sequencer features effectively.
  • Save the MIDI sequence to an appropriate medium.

OUTCOME 2 Edit a MIDI sequence in accordance with a given brief.

Performance Criteria:

  • Effectively use a variety of editing functions to modify a MIDI sequence.
  • Save the MIDI sequence to an appropriate medium.

OUTCOME 3 Mix a MIDI sequence in accordance with a given brief.

Performance Criteria:

  • Use a variety of editing and controller functions to mix a MIDI sequence.
  • Mix is creative and effective.
  • Save final mix to an appropriate medium.
