Tell us about your new release…

My track is called ‘The Water’ and is available to listen on Soundcloud. Although I wrote the lyrics about one of my own personal experiences it’s up to the listener to decide what the lyrics mean to them. For this track I took inspiration from bands such as Trustcompany and Godsmack because I listened to them non-stop during the writing process. So, I would say that this song is a mix between thrash metal and alternative rock. I’ve always wanted to release my own music as I’ve been writing my own songs for years so it’s amazing to finally be able to share my work with others.

How would you describe your music?

I feel like each song I have written has a different sound to it.  When I started writing music, I listened to bands such as Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Van Halen so I’ve carried elements of glam/classic rock into my writing style. I’ve always been a huge fan of Alice Cooper, so I always try to sneak a bit of horror into my music. So, I would say my music is a mix of romance and monsters.

How has the HND Music Performance course helped you – which skills, knowledge/classes have been the most useful for you?

It’s difficult to pinpoint specifically how the course has helped me as I feel I’ve progressed as a musician in so many ways since joining Riverside. I think the biggest thing that has helped me progress is the amount of support I have gotten from the lecturers. When I started studying at Riverside I had very little confidence in myself, but the lecturers have really pushed me into building my confidence up so now I feel that I can do absolutely anything I put my mind to. They also teach in a way that is fun and encouraging so that subjects that I found challenging in the past are now enjoyable.

Why did you want to study at Riverside Music College?

When I saw what opportunities the course had to offer I did not think twice about applying. I had wanted to study at Riverside for about two years before applying so it felt like a huge milestone when I got accepted. I don’t regret going to Riverside one bit as lives up to its brilliant reputation and I’ve had so much fun studying there.

What are your future plans?

I haven’t thought too far into the future yet, but I have a few songs in the works which I can’t wait to share. I’ve also been collaborating with other artists, so I’ll be featuring on a few other tracks which I’m extremely excited about.
